Here are 5 must do’s in Lake Tekapo For a once in a lifetime experience; do the helicopter flight. You can do different flights but we recommend the longest one. You fly among Mount Cook, the biggest mountain of New Zealand. You also fly over Franz Josef and Fox Glacier. The view is amazing! The longest flight will cost you 500 dollar. Go star gazing Lake Tekapo is in the middle of a area called the dark sky reserve. This means that there are rules against light pollution. You can do the tour to the Mt John Observatory and watch the stars and planets trough a telescope. The price for this tour is 145 dollars But we drove out of the town and watched the stars by ourselves. That’s for free! 🙂 Want to relax? Visit the Tekapo hot springs for a day. Each pool got different temperatures to relax even more. It’s 22 dollar for a day. Talking about nice views… Go for the mount John summit. It is a great walk with an amazing view over the Lake and the village. It will take you about 3 hours and it’s free. It will be very touristy but it is still a must do.
