Today, we are out inshore fishing and we’ve
caught a spotted seatrout. Now, this trout is undersized, so we can’t
harvest it. So the best thing to do is we know that this
fish has to go back, is to avoid touching it so it has a better chance of survival. One way to do that is to use a dehooking device
like this. When I use this device, I don’t have to touch
the fish at all to remove the hook from the fish’s mouth. All I have to do is hold the line, grab the
hook, lift up, and let gravity take the hook out of the fish’s mouth. That way I don’t touch the fish and it has
a much better chance of survival to go grow up and maybe get caught another day.
