DNR Holding Meeting To Discuss Fishery Changes To Lake Winnibigoshish


FROM SENIORS TO THE CAREER DAY.>>>MINNESOTA D.N.R. OFFICIALS IN THE GRAND RAPIDS AREA FISHERIES OFFICE WILL HOLD AN OPEN HOUSE TO DISCUSS HISTORIC AND RECENT CHANGES IN LAKE WINNIBIGOSHISH. LAKE WINNY IS A DESTINATION FISHERY FOR WALLEYE AND YELLOW PERCH. FISHERIES BIOLOGISTS WILL SHARE DATA ABOUT CHANGES IN FISH POPULATIONS AND THE IMPACTS OF EXOTIC SPECIES AND REGULATIONS. D.N.R. LARGE LAKE SPECIALIST GERRY ALBERT SAYS THE FISHERIES WALLEYE NUMBERS ARE GOING IN A DOWN PERIOD RIGHT NOW. THE D.N.R. IS INVESTIGATING WHETHER RECENT CHANGES ARE A NORMAL PART OF WALLEYE BIOLOGY ON WINNY OR IF SOMETHING HAS CHANGED IN THE SYSTEM. THE MEETING WILL BE TUESDAY, MARCH 20th FROM 7:00 TO 10:00 P.M. AT THE MINNESOTA INTERAGENCY FIRE CENTER IN GRAND RAPIDS. IT WILL BEGIN WITH A SHORT PRESENTATION OF DATA AND INCLUDE TIME FOR QUESTIONS.
